Attestation of Power of Attorney Guidelines

Consulate of Pakistan provides attestation and legalization services for documents issued by Pakistani nationals, dual nationals and foreign nationals for use in Pakistan.

Attestation verifies the identity and signatures of executants only. Consulate does not verify the legal content of documents.

Before You Visit
  • The Power of Attorney must be prepared but not signed before attending the appointment.
  • Details of the executant, including name, CNIC/NICOP/POC number, current address, and contact number, must be included in the document to be attested.
  • All executants must appear in person and sign before the Consular Officer.
  • Identification documents must be valid.
  • Prior attestation from FCDO or MOFA may be required depending on document origin.
Note: Applicants must book an online appointment and appear in person for attestation services.
Documents That Cannot Be Attested
  • Documents related to political or criminal disputes
  • Domicile certificates
  • Photographs
  • Invitation letters
  • Visa notes
  • Land registry or property sale/purchase papers
  • Applications of any kind
1. Pakistani or Dual National (Valid Pakistani Passport or NADRA Card)

For documents issued in personal capacity e.g. (Power of Attorney or Authority Letter)

  • Personal appearance of executant(s)
  • Original valid NADRA card (CNIC/NICOP/POC) or Pakistani passport with photocopy.
  • Original unsinged Power of Attorney plus one photocopy that would be signed by the execuant in the presence of a Consular Officer
  • Two recent passport-size photographs per executant.
  • Proof of UK residence if requested.
  • Appointment booking confirmation.
Pakistani or Dual National (Official / Public Documents)

For documents such as Birth Certificates or Marriage Certificates.

4. British Nationals Requesting Attestation

  • Document must first be attested by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office
  • Original British passport, driving licence, or BRP with photocopy
  • UK contact number
  • Original documents with photocopies
Power of Attorney – Use in Pakistan
  • Send the original attested Power of Attorney to your attorney or family member in Pakistan.
  • The document must be verified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan.
  • For property matters, the PoA must be registered with the local Sub-Registrar under the Registration Act 1908.
  • After registration the attorney may use it for property transactions, court cases or other authorised matters.
Death Certificate Attestation
  • The death certificate must first be attested by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
  • A NADRA Card Cancellation Certificate must be obtained from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) at the Consulate.
