Renunciation of Pakistani Citizenship
The renunciation of citizenship is a detailed process and may take up to 6 months or longer. Delays may occur if documents are incomplete or require further verification.Applicants are strongly advised to carefully review all requirements before applying.
Required Documents
- Duly completed Renunciation Forms
- Original CNIC/NICOP
- Proof of CNIC/NICOP cancellation (with payment receipt)
- Original Pakistani passport(s)
- Proof of foreign nationality
- Valid government-issued ID
- Seven (07) passport-size photographs
- Any additional supporting documents (if required)
Note: Four (04) sets of photocopies of all documents are required.
Applications for Minors
- Applicants below 21 years cannot apply independently
- Minors must apply with their father’s renunciation application
- Additional documents required:
- Birth Certificate
- CNIC/NICOP (if available)
- Pakistani Passport(s)
Minor children residing in Pakistan must NOT be included in the application.
Application Process
- Applicant must hold a valid CNIC/NICOP before applying.
- If not available, apply through:
- Pak ID App
- Consulate website
- NADRA Facilitation Desk
- Initiate CNIC/NICOP cancellation and obtain proof of payment.
- After submission, status will appear as "Deferred".
- Submit all documents along with cancellation receipt to the Consulate.
- The application will be forwarded for processing.
- Once approved, a Renunciation Certificate will be issued.
- Original certificate will be handed over after surrender of all Pakistani identity documents.
